11 months since installation of the first mattress panel, GLF USA have completed installation of the final module of scour protection at the main container terminal (400m lg) and RoRo landing (35m) in Port-au Prince, Haiti. The scour protection was designed with a high permeability mattress in the tidal zone, and an increased thickness mattress in areas vulnerable to propeller and thrust action underwater. Installation of the mattress was undertaken with assistance from local divers and completed in parallel to the deck construction. The piling and beams for the superstructure were constructed on area of temporary fill material to remove the need for costly marine works. The fill material then has to be excavated out to form the slope beneath the structure.
