Book a webinar for your team
Nine sessions on marine construction, scour protection, foundations and underwater repair. Pick one and we run it live for your team, on a date that suits you.
Evidenced CPD sessions, delivered by the engineers who design and install this work. Bring the project you are stuck on and they will answer on it live.
Signing up on your own? Ask anyway, and we will tell you when that session next runs.
Built for live projects, and for CPD
These are not product overviews. Each session takes one situation, a berth that needs deepening, a scour hole found at inspection, a tender with rock specified, and works through the options, the design basis and what it means for programme and cost. That makes them useful two ways: bring a live project and get it answered, or attend for the CPD and the wider industry picture, with no project on your desk at all.
Straight to the detail
Design methods, edge details and failure modes. The content our engineers present to PIANC and ICE, adapted for a working session.
Your project, answered live
Tell us what you are dealing with when you register and we will try to cover it. Nothing to bring is fine too: attend for the CPD.
A certificate every time
Every attendee gets a CPD certificate after the session, naming the session and the contact hours delivered, so the time goes straight into a CPD record.
No sales pitch
You will leave able to assess the options yourself, whether or not you ever work with us.

How to design and specify concrete mattress scour protection
The full CPD session, for the point where a scheme has to be written into a specification.
Design methods from the published PIANC and ICE papers. Setting protection extent and thickness for your design vessels. Edge details that prevent underscour, covering embedment, anchor trenches and falling aprons. Sealed against unsealed protection and when each applies. Model clauses and drawing notes you can lift straight into a specification, plus the QA points that generate site queries.

Scour protection comparison: when concrete mattress beats rock
A feasibility-stage session, for the point where rock and mattress are both still on the table.
Vessel actions and design velocities for propellers, twin screws, thrusters and fast ferries. Sizing rock against mattress thickness. Edge stability and underscour, the failure mode that decides most schemes. Where mattress is the wrong answer, covering the bed conditions, exposure and access it does not suit, and where rock still wins. What each option means for berth depth, dredging and flow capacity, plus whole-life cost and carbon. You leave with a selection framework.

Deepening existing berths
Bigger vessels arrive and the choice looks like rebuild the quay or turn the ships away. There is a third route.
How propeller and thruster scour puts an existing wall at risk, how much extra depth that wall can give, and how a thin sealed concrete mattress protects the toe so you can dredge deeper. Ends with a comparison of mattress, rock and full rebuild, what to survey before options work starts, and worked examples from berths where depth was gained without rebuilding the wall.

Installation at a working berth
Ports rarely get to close a berth, so the question is always how the work is done around live vessel movements.
How to sequence the work around vessel movements so the berth keeps trading, and what a full shutdown costs against a phased install. Diver safety at operational berths. Reading your survey, and triaging what needs action now against what can be monitored. How scour holes develop at gravity, sheet pile and combi walls, repair options compared, and how to stop it recurring.

Concrete mattress scour protection: installation, pricing and programme considerations
For estimators and site teams pricing the work.
What arrives on site and what your team installs. Typical dive spread, crew size and plant list, with no heavy marine plant required. What actually drives production rates. Filling from quay, deck or barge, covering pump setup, mixes and pressures. Planning around weather, tide and vessel traffic, and what Proserve provides on site.

Marine grouted seals and fabric forms: sealing gaps, filling voids, repairing piles
For the mid-contract problem with no obvious solution.
Where rigid formwork fails, meaning variable gaps, poor access and live water. Grout sock seals. Filling voids behind and beneath structures without excavation. Pile repairs using fabric forms filled insitu. Placing and filling everything from the surface where that is the only access. Worked examples from harbour walls and marine piles.

Value engineering scour protection: thinner, faster, lower cost
You are bidding a job with rock specified.
Where the savings actually sit, across thickness, dredge volumes, plant and programme. What a compliant alternative needs by way of design justification to PIANC methods. How to get the change accepted through the designer approval route, and what the designer will ask you for. What Proserve needs from your tender documents to turn round a fast budget figure.

Bridge and river scour protection
For asset engineers at rail, highways and river authorities, and the consultants running their scour assessments.
How scour undermines piers, abutments and invert slabs, and how to read assessment findings. Protection options in confined channels. Designing for flood flows. Working in rivers, covering environmental permits, fisheries windows and minimal channel disturbance. Installing in shallow or flowing water with light plant and limited access.
Book for your team
Founding and bearing precast marine structures on grout bags
For designers and contractors setting heavy precast units on an uneven seabed.
Why levelling a bed underwater is the risk nobody prices properly, and how a compartmented bag grouted to full contact removes it, taking up bed variation of up to 900 mm. Load transfer, fixing bags to the unit in the casting yard, setting sequence, and filling and vent monitoring from the surface with no divers. Underpinning foundations already lost to scour. Worked from MOSE Venice and the Nouvelle Route du Littoral viaduct.

How to specify concrete mattress for berth scour protection
What a designer has to settle before tender, where mattress does not suit, and how to word it.
Maximising berth depth for larger vessels
Why a 220 to 300 mm sealed apron preserves depth that a graded rock section takes away.
